How to Send Money to EUR and USD Bank Accounts

A simple step-by-step guide to sending money to EUR (European) and USD (US) bank accounts, including what info you'll need and how to fix common problems.

Written by Ambrose

Getting started

No matter where you're sending money, the first steps are always the same:

  1. Open the Send tab and pick or add a beneficiary.

  2. Choose the destination country.

  3. Enter the person's first name, last name, and phone number.

After that, what you see on screen will depend on whether you're sending to a EUR (European) account or a USD (US) account.

(For USD, the beneficiary's phone number must be a US phone number; for EUR, the beneficiary's phone number must be a European phone number for the receiving country.)

Sending to a EUR (European) account

What you'll need

Just one thing: the recipient's IBAN. An IBAN is a long bank account number used in Europe — it usually starts with two letters (like DE, FR, or ES) followed by numbers.

How it works

  1. After entering the name and phone number, an IBAN field will appear on the same screen.

  2. Type in the IBAN. The app will automatically add spaces to make it easier to read.

  3. Tap Continue. The app will check the IBAN for you.

  4. If the IBAN is valid, you'll see a confirmation screen showing:

    • The IBAN you entered

    • The bank name (we look this up for you)

    • The BIC / SWIFT code (we look this up for you)

  5. Confirm and move on to enter the amount.

You don't need to type the bank name or BIC — we find those automatically from the IBAN.

Common problems with EUR transfers

"Invalid IBAN" message
This usually means there's a typo. Check that:

  • The IBAN is entered correctly with no extra spaces or missing characters.

  • The country code at the start of the IBAN (e.g. DE, FR) matches the country you selected.

No bank name appears after entering the IBAN
The IBAN looks correct but we couldn't find the bank. Ask the recipient to double-check their IBAN with their bank.

Need to change the IBAN later?

Go to the beneficiary's profile and tap the Bank account row. You can type in a new IBAN and save. The bank name and BIC will update automatically. You can't change just the bank name on its own — it always comes from the IBAN.

Sending to a USD (US) account

What you'll need

For US transfers, you'll fill in a few more details. Make sure the recipient gives you all of the following:

  • Their bank name (from our supported list)

  • Their account number

  • Their account type (Checking or Savings)

  • Their routing number (a 9-digit number)

  • Their BIC / SWIFT code (e.g. CMFGUS33)

  • Their bank branch address, including street, city, state, and ZIP code

How it works

  1. After entering the name and phone number for a US recipient, you'll be taken to a Bank details screen.

  2. Fill in every field. The 'Continue' button won't work until all fields are complete — so don't skip anything!

  3. For the bank, tap the Bank field to search and pick from a list of supported US banks.

  4. For account type, it defaults to Checking — tap to change it to Savings if needed.

  5. Once everything is filled in, tap Continue to move on to the amount screen.

Common problems with USD transfers

The Continue button is greyed out if:
One or more fields are still empty. Scroll down and check the address section — it's easy to miss the street address, city, state, or ZIP.

The recipient's bank isn't in the list
We can only send USD to banks in our supported network. If the bank isn't showing up, unfortunately we're not able to send money to that account at this time. Please contact us for help.

"No supported US banks" error
This is not something you did wrong. Please contact our support team so we can look into it.

Need to change the bank details later?

Go to the beneficiary's profile and tap the Bank account row. The Bank details screen will open with everything pre-filled, and you can update any field.
